Holy Term-Shifting Batman!

We’ve got it all wrong. Somewhere along the line, holiness went from being desirable, to being an oppressive social construct. But if God is good, and God is holy, then holiness can’t be bad, but actually something we should all aspire to. So what happened?
Blurring the lines of understanding is as old as the first sin recorded. The phrase, “you have a ‘holier than thou’ attitude,” used to be warning against arrogance, and now is an attack on a person’s convictions or religion, or both. So back up, take a breath, and let’s figure out what holiness is, and is not.
